A massive welcome to Byron Design Thinking and Brisbane Design Thinking who officially joined our Australia Design Thinking (AusDT) collective last night!
This marks an exciting evolution and we thought it a fitting time to adopt a new visual identity too. A huge thanks to Will Stuart and Gabe Grieve for creating the new brand.
AusDT is a collective of local design communities across Australia taking a design thinking and living systems approach to innovation and solving complex problems – to help create great outcomes for people, our planet, and business.
We have in-person events in each location – and the Australia Design Thinking Linkedin group as an online place to share events, news, articles, and other inspiration… and continue conversations.
We’re lucky to have a thriving design community in Australia and each of these communities is convened by local people who invest so much in building community and the ecosystem.
Sydney Design Thinking (SydDT) is a diverse community of 10,000+ members. We’ve been meeting monthly since June 2015 and next week is our 10th birthday and 114th meetup. The SydDT team is Ben Pecotich, Kate Linton, Kylie Mageropoulos, and Lucas Mara. Join us to celebrate 🎉
Adelaide Design Thinking had their first meetup in February and is led by Tash Ballantyne and Maria Raymond with a great support team. I love seeing them already collaborating with other local meetups and conferences.
Johanna Bullin has been leading IxDA Brisbane and Will Stuart IxDA Byron Bay – and they’ve both rebranded. We’ve already been collaborating but it’s awesome to have Byron Design Thinking and Brisbane Design Thinking officially part of the collective.
This doesn’t change these communities. It just opens up stronger collaboration and a more connected design community.
Melbourne Design Thinking is coming soon… Mickey Rummery, Rach Zhang, and Carl Panczak are cooking up something special.
We also collaborate as Design Connection, a collective of three Sydney design meetups founded by Ben Pecotich from SydDT, Adam Faulkner from EUX, and Kevin Wilkins from CCX, with Susan Wolfe and Vera Chan as the backbone.
In design, we talk a lot about collaboration. I love seeing it in action and I’m stoked I get to spend time with all of these awesome people.
