Workshop Outline
Service design is an interdisciplinary approach that can dramatically improve productivity and quality, while continuously helping an organisation remain competitive in a ‘post-goods’ economy.
At its core, service design is about treating experiences as layers of designed external and internal touchpoints. Choreographing and visualising how service actors interact end-to-end across these touchpoints to achieve a service goal.
The majority of today’s introductory ‘classic’ service design literature emphasises methods for designing a single service, from the inside, and focuses exclusively on applying design thinking within a service context. That paradigm has been outdated for almost half a decade.
A modern, holistic view of service design expands its landscape to improving services as part of a service ecosystem, looking at them not only inward but also outward, understanding the various service types, as well as the relationships between the service creator(s) and service provider(s).

⏳ Time: Full-day workshop (9am–5:30pm)
💰 Price: $350 (+bf). $275 (+bf) early bird price until 11 April (only 10 tickets at this price)
The workshop is capped at 36 people.

Who Should Attend?
The workshop is best suited for intermediate researchers, product designers, service designers, product managers and business leadership looking to add modern service design techniques to their method toolbox.
It’s not a prerequisite, but the workshop assumes some prior exposure to visual thinking and basic understanding of classic design thinking methods.
About Cornelius Rachieru
Cornelius is the Managing Director/Founder of Canadian systemic service design consultancy Ampli2de Inc., where he explores his fascination with the politics of design while leading service and system-scale enterprise experience design projects.
He’s also the Founder, Chair & Creative Director of the popular CanUX conference, Canada’s largest and longest running annual UX event.
Over the past 20 years, he’s managed a number of large UX and service design teams as practice leader at Deloitte Canada and Shaw Communications, and has consulted in a wide range of industries, from technology to financial services, healthcare, enterprise risk management, autonomous transportation, intellectual property and law.
He has also guest lectured at University of Barcelona/BTS, SCAD Hong Kong and is a workshop instructor for Rosenfeld Media.
This is a rare opportunity for the Sydney community to hang out with Cornelius and learn from his extensive experience!

Design Connection is a collective of three Sydney design meetups… Ben Pecotich from Sydney Design Thinking (SydDT), Adam Faulkner from Enterprise UX (EUX), and Kevin Wilkins from Creative Customer Experience (CCX), with Susan Wolfe and Vera Chan being the backbone of Design Connection 😃
