I’m excited to be collaborating with Jane Laverty and Chloe Allan from Business NSW Northern Rivers to lead a Regen in Action workshop with some members of the Business NSW Northern Rivers Regional Leaders Network.
It will be a learning through doing session and we’re lucky to have the iconic Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary hosting and bringing a real and high-priority challenge for the group to work on. A huge thanks to Amanda Gorvin and Cat Gerke. The Sanctuary’s work also funds the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.
I’m stoked five very engaged members of the IxDA Byron Bay community will also be joining the workshop. I’m looking forward to sharing and learning from Demi Barclay from TAFE NSW, Mary-Claire Monsalve from ABC, Desiree Melendez, Duncan Underwood from Campfire, and Bianca Taylor-Andrews from Envirosuite – with Charlie Sutton from Atlassian joing later in the day.

Workshop Outline
This Regenerative Leadership, Design & Innovation in Action workshop is designed to help you lead with confidence, clarity, and purpose – so you can navigate complexity and solve problems that matter for your teams, customers, investors, communities, and our planet.
As leaders, we make decisions everyday about our businesses/organisations, products, and services. Decisions that move us closer to the world we want to see. Or not.
Led by Ben Pecotich, a designer, coach, and founder of Dynamic4 – a social enterprise and B Corp focused on regenerative leadership, design, and innovation for happier communities. He specialises in working alongside leaders and their teams to learn through doing.
Together we’ll cover some core concepts and principles, but the focus is on learning through doing by collaborating with Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on a real challenge – with guidance and coaching.
Taking an action learning approach, the work we do together will help you build and practice thinking and skills you can immediately apply within your organisation and community.
The Challenge
The workshop uses an action learning approach with learning through doing by working on real and high-priority adaptive challenge with coaching.
This is based on a value exchange between the community partner and the participants. We’ve worked together to frame a challenge that will both support the learning outcomes and deliver value for Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The challenge we’ll be focusing on is:
How might we help the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary become the all year round destination of choice for businesses, schools, communities, tourists, members, and guests… so people create memorable experiences of this iconic Northern Rivers hub and have a lifelong love of wildlife.

The workshop will be followed by the IxDA Byron Bay meetup at 5:30pm hosted at TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre (CLC) Byron Bay.
Ben will be giving a short talk and then hosting a panel with three Northern River locals doing awesome work in a diverse range of contexts. Jane Laverty from Business NSW Northern Rivers, Dan Leverington from The Ocelli Group, and Demi Barclay from TAFE NSW will share their insights and experience on how we design for regeneration in life and work.
