We were lucky to have Kristin de la Fuente helping us celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday night with SydDT #110: IWD Accelerate Action: Make AI Your Equity Partner.
Kristin led an interactive session designed to empower designers, researchers, and AI practitioners to actively advance gender parity in technology. She provided research and tools to help ensure AI-generated outputs for design are more ethical, inclusive, and free from gender bias.
Beyond the framework, she also introduced Kyam, her bias busting custom GPT that refines and uplifts your prompts, analyses your data, and gives you guidance on best practices. Check it out.

Kristin de la Fuente
Product Design Leader, Torii
Kristin is a seasoned design professional with over 20 years of experience spanning graphic, brand, digital, user experience and product design. She began her career on the Gold Coast, later moving to London, where she pioneered mobile product design and social gaming at the forefront of the iPhone revolution. Kristin has led design for brands like Qantas, IAG, Aware Super, Westfield, and NAB – earning design accolades along the way.
In 2023, Kristin started her journey with generative AI, rapidly evolving from experimentation to integrating AI into real-world design projects. She gained her expertise from a leading AI and design pioneer in California, dedicating months and then more months to mastering AI frameworks and prompting techniques for design.
Passionate about sharing her knowledge, Kristin co-leads webinars, and workshops with GenAI Lab, focusing on genAI for design. She’s also an active volunteer at their community events hosted by companies like Google, Domain, and Canva.
Her recent accomplishments include keynotes, fireside chats, and leading Australia’s first hands-on AI Design Foundations workshop in collaboration with GenAI Lab and Greg Aper, AI and design pioneer. Kristin loves getting hands-on with design, leading projects from the front with creativity and innovation.
