SydDT #73: Helping the UN Measure the Factors that Create Conflict in the World

SydDT #73: Helping the UN Measure Factors that Create Conflict in the World

Thursday, 8 September 2022 was our 73rd SydDT. Thanks to Lambros Photios for sharing insights from his work developing a tech-enabled conflict sensitivity framework for the UN.

Lambros and Lucas also led a workshop and discussion which was a great way think through some scenarios with plenty of fun debates on the blurry lines between quant and qual data and sources.

Thanks to everyone who came and made it a fun night! Couldn’t make it or just want to relive it? You can watch it now.

Thanks again to Thoughtworks Sydney for their support and the rest of our organising team… Lucas, Kate, and Zoe.

Our next meetup on 13 October is part of Spark Festival again, with a focus on design thinking in social enterprise startups. We’re partnering with some key supporters of the social enterprise ecosystem for this one… the Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA), Dynamic4 & StartSomeGood. See you there!

Meetup Announcement

Thursday, 8 September 2023 @ 6pm. ThoughtWorks, Sydney.

Lambros Photios will share insights from his work developing a technology driven conflict sensitivity analysis framework for the UN World Food Programme and the United Nations.

We’ll explore the impacts that food shortages and other contributing factors can have on conflicts that arise in the world. This is especially relevant now given the impact the war in Ukraine is having on world food supplies and other supply chains – and how this is creating unrest and conflict across the globe, such as the civil unrest that we have witnessed in Sri Lanka.

We’ll also facilitate workshop discussions so we can all learn from each other and share our own perspectives and ideas on sustainability.
