SydDT #90: MELBOURNE Design Thinking Meetup

SydDT #90: MELBOURNE Design Thinking Meetup

Friday afternoon was SydDT #90… in Melbourne at The Cluster. It was the first time we’ve taken Sydney Design Thinking on the road. This event was proudly in collaboration with UserTesting.

It was great to catch up with a bunch of friends and make some new ones. Plenty of interesting conversations with some people in and around the Melbourne design and product community over a few drinks. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a fun arvo and eve and a massive thanks to our speakers!

At the meetup we explored the theme of Designing for Value: Building Digital Products & Experiences Customers Love. Louis Granger (Head of APAC at UserTesting) kicked things off by sharing some insights on taking the guesswork out of product development.

I then hosted a panel with Neha Karira (Senior Manager, Product Design at Bunnings), Berlin Liew (Senior Product Designer at Xero), and Louis.

They shared plenty of great insights and lessons on how they work with teams and stakeholders to build better digital products and experiences, some of the challenges they’re working on or have overcome to make more confident decisions, and finally some trends they’re observing and thoughts on where it’s all heading.

Couldn’t make it or just want to relive it? You can watch it now.

For everyone who’s going to be in Sydney on Thursday, 7 December, come along to SydDT #91: End of Year Design Megameetup – our final meetup for 2023. This is in collaboration with our friends at IxDA Sydney, CCX & EUX. Grab your ticket and I’ll see you there 😃

Meetup Announcement

Friday, 3 November 2023 @ 6pm. The Lounge at The Cluster, Melbourne

We’re stoked to be bringing SydDT to Melbourne for the first time. Come join us for some fun conversations with interesting people in and around the design community.

We’re lucky to have Neha Karira, Berlin Liew, and Louis Granger sharing their experience and perspectives on designing for value. How do we work together to build better digital products and experiences customers love? How do we overcome the challenges and make more confident decisions?

This will be a casual and interactive meetup with a few drinks and nibbles for anyone interested in design thinking. Our meetups are about having fun and enjoying each other’s company while sharing and learning from each other. We start with about 45 minutes of networking before getting into the content.

It’s a way to make new friends, stay connected with old friends, and the focus is on bringing the community and ecosystem together.

As organisations race to build digital products and experiences faster than ever in a competitive and uncertain environment, it’s more important than ever to connect to, and build for, customer value.

UX, design, and product teams need more certainty when it comes to making decisions on what to build and how to build it to deliver customer value, and often understanding why customers behave in certain ways is just a matter of opinion.

Join us for a collaborative event where these industry leaders will share their thoughts and experiences on how to work together to build better digital products and experiences customers love.
