UX Australia (UXA) in Melbourne last week was a full one.
It was fun to meet and work with a bunch of new people in my How to Solve Problems That Matter workshops. Loved the energy in the room and seeing new friendships being made. Also nice to hear some kind words, including this from one of the participants “Thanks Ben. Fantastic session, very practical and inspirational…”
After working with Chris Miles and Susan Palmer from Gather Group for a year, it was awesome to finally meet IRL and chat about the many exciting things coming up. Thanks for lunch!
Then there were the nights of catching up with old friends and making plenty of new ones… and of course a couple of days of great talks in a hybrid format – including a few international speakers. Too many great speakers to name.
Congrats again to Steve, Annabelle, Jasmine, and Claire for making it happen and bringing the UX community together to keep learning and sharing.

I’m looking forward to running a couple of half-day workshops on How to Solve Problems That Matter at UX Australia in Melbourne next week… and I can’t wait to catch up with my UX friends from around the country… and make a bunch of new friends.
What are problems that matter? How do we solve them? How do we make it happen? How do we look after our wellbeing while we do it? These are the questions we’ll be exploring.
By the end of the session, I hope the participants will have more clarity, focus, and confidence to move forward and build momentum – with less risk by testing and refining their idea and impact… all while having some fun and making some new friends. We’ll be playing at the place where design thinking, social innovation, and wellbeing meet.
This is a practical and applied session helping the participants explore a problem/idea that really matters to them – maybe one they’re already working on. Participants can work solo, with current teammates, and there’s also an opportunity to team up.
All of my coaching and teaching work focuses on using project-based experiential learning approaches with action learning and human-centred design at the core. Learning through doing… and always having fun while we solve problems that matter.

I’m stoked to be part of the UX Australia lineup in Melbourne next month. I’ll be running two half-day workshops on How to Solve Problems That Matter.
The workshop is a practical action learning session focused on designing sustainable business models and solutions with purpose and embedded impact… ideas that deliver great outcomes for people and our planet while being financially successful – and of course looking after our wellbeing while we do it. What are problems that matter? How do I solve them? How do I make it happen?
The workshops are in person and the rest of the conference is hybrid. Who’s coming to UXA in Melbourne? I can’t wait to catch up with my UX friends from around the country… and make a bunch of new friends!
